Creating you site survey (airspace) You will now need to plan your operations based on any airspace and air traffic considerations this will require you to: identify the airspace you'll be operating in determine the proximity of nearby aerodromes of heliports determine any nearby air traffic patterns identify any air traffic control authority to be contacted for authorization You can use your VFR navigation charts to find the location of the flight review on the map; this can by done by: using the coordinates of the location and the lines of latitude and longitude on the map to determine the location finding the location on Google Maps and matching that up to the VNC or VTA chart to determine the position on the aviation map using the Fore Flight Mobile app to find the precise location and airspace in the area
We highly recommend using the Fore Flight Mobile app when planning your site survey. On the app you have the function to put in your exact location and then look at the types of airspace around it. As you can see from the picture above you can easily identify the nearest aerodromes (these start at ground level) and control zones. You will need this in your site survey. If you have any trouble consult with the legend to help you identify the airspace. Remember that airspace has a vertical component as well; there may be different types of airspace at different altitudes, these altitudes will be identified on the map. For example in the image above - B is marked as 12501' - 17999' which means Class B starts at 12501'
