Creating you site survey (airspace) Once you've identified the class of airspace you will be flying in, you'll need to determine if it is: uncontrolled (Class G) controlled (Class A,B,C,D,E) Note that there may be Class F airspace in the area: Class F Restricted (CYR) means you cannot fly in this airspace unless you obtain special permission from the owner if the airspace ((this rarely happens as they are mostly military zones. Class A Advisory (CYA) this is "special use" airspace and you can fly in it provided you know what the special use is and have means of communicating appropriately with other aircraft. When flying in controlled airspace Canadian Aviation Regulations specify - 907.71 (1) No pilot shall operate a remotely piloted aircraft in controlled airspace under this division unless the following information is provided to the provider of air traffic services in the area of operation before a proposed operation and an authorization has been issued by that provider. You will need the following information for that request: the date, time and duration of the operation the category, registration number, and physical characteristic of the aircraft the vertical and horizontal boundaries of the area of operation the route of the flight to access the area of operation the proximity of the area of operation to manned aircraft approaches and departures and to patterns of traffic formed by manned aircraft the mans by which two-way communication with the appropriate air traffic control unit will be maintained the name, contact information and pilot certificate number of any pilot of the aircraft the procedures and flight profiles to be followed in the case of a lost command control link the procedures to be followed in emergency situations the process and time required to terminate operations any other information required by the provider of air traffic services that is necessary for the provisions of air traffic management
