Canadian Drone & Aviation Regulations The CARs are an extensive set of rules and regulations governing many areas of aviation. They can be divided into a few sections such as: Part I - General Provisions Part II - Aircraft Identification, Registration and Operation of a Leased Aircraft by a Non-registered Owner Part Ill - Aerodromes, Airports and Heliports Part IV - Personnel Licensing and Training Part V - Airworthiness Part VI - General Operating and Flight Rules Part VII - Commercial Air Services Part VIII - Air Navigation Services Part IX - Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems You can find CARs at: www.tc.gc.ca/en/transport-canada/corporate/acts-regulations/regulations/sor-96-433.html Enforcement CARs stipulate specific penalties for violations of each part of the regulations and also has the mandate to enforce the regulations in the CARs and has at its disposal: Inspectors and Enforcement Officers Processes for Public reporting of violations Processes for ATC reporting of violations Field Inspections from Officers "Enforcement is not an option, it is a commitment to aviation safety" Definitions Aerodrome - Any area of land or water used for aircraft operation regardless of facilities Airport - An aerodrome that is certified for commercial flights Pilot in Command - Is the person responsible during the time the aircraft is operating under its own power Day - Is the time between the beginning of morning civil twilight and the end of civil twilight Night - Is the time between the end of evening civil twilight and the beginning of morning civil twilight Directed Bright light Source - means any directed light source (coherent or non-coherent), including lasers that may create a hazard to aviation safety Fire Control Authority - an official of a government forestry service or fire control agency that is responsible for the protection of persons and property against fire Forest Fire Area - means an area on the surface of the earth on which standing timber, grass or any other vegetation or buildings are burning
