Radio Waves Radio Waves can be sub-classified by their wavelengths and frequencies into:
Very Hight Frequency (VHF) These frequencies are used heavily in aviation for both communications and navigation as they operate at a very high frequency (30 to 300 MHz) and have wavelengths from 1m to 10m, they use: Used for navigation and communication TV 50.00 88.00 MHz FM Radio: 88.1 107.9 MHz ILS and VORs: 108.00 117.95 MHz Aviation Voice Comms: 118.00 136.00 MHz Ultra hight frequency (UHF) Are mostly used by military and government and in civil aviation for the DME as well as by radio controlled RPAS transmitters. These waves use a ultra high frequency (300 MHz to 3 GHz) and have a wavelengths from 10cm to 1m and are most often used in: (GHz Transmitters) Super high frequency (SHF) Video transmission from RPAS often use this range, which is a super high frequency (3 GHz to 30 GHz) with wavelengths from 1cm to 10 cm. Most often used in : 5.8 Ghz transmitters
