Identifying the Controlling Authority Generally your main contact will be with NAVCanada, but you can and should also use and contact: ACC or a Control Tower Canada Flight Supplement (CFS) Contacting the Controlling Authority When contacting the appropriate authority: Explain who you are Describe the nature of the operation Give date, time and location of the operation Type and description of the RPAS Altitude to be flown and duration of flights Location Safety You should learn as much as possible about the specific location of air operations: Ask your client for information Use Google Maps or other online maps or do mandate a in-person visit Identify areas that require safety and security provisions Pedestrian and vehicle access proximity of buildings Takeoff and landing locations Identify evacuation areas and emergency vehicle access You should plan safety and security measures in advance: Determine how many people you will need to control the area Determine how to control vehicle traffic if necessary Determine how to control doorways from buildings Determine what is needed to control these areas
