Aircraft and Equipment You should carefully select and prepare the equipment most appropriate for the operation; choosing equipment that will get the required results while posing the minimal risk. Maintenance You should ensure that all equipment is in good working condition, making sure to test the equipment before the operation. Just in case you should also plan to bring a backup drone should anything go wrong. Now days most customers even ask about a backup drone prior to shooting. Roles As the person in charge you should clearly identify the roles, responsibilities and determine how these parties will communication communicate for the operation: Pilot Visual observer Ground supervisor Security for pedestrian control Vehicle control Emergency coordinator Communication with ATC Authorization and Approval There are two critical authorizations usually required for RPAS operations: Property - must have the property owner's permission to conduct flights on their property Airspace - must obtain permission from the authority controlling the airspace for the operation Some other authorizations and approvals that may be required include city permits, parking, or other uses. When filming outside the city you might need permission from Provincial Parks, National Parks and loom into special safety provisions. Airspace Authority This will typically require: Determining the airspace for the location of operations Identifying the controlling authority Contacting the controlling authority Establishing how to communicate during operations Obtaining their approval and instructions Complying by their instructions on the date of operations
